Etiologically subcategorization crescentic glomerulonephritis (CGN) is important. Multiple different immunologic pathogenic mechanisms can cause glomerulonephritis with crescent formation. Crescent staging is equally important in deciding management and assessing prognosis. There is no unified system for the crescent staging. Renal biopsies having crescents should also have mention of each type of crescent (cellular/fibrocellular/fibrous) separately with their percentages as it may add in further planning management and predicting of renal outcome.
