Demand for dialysis is growing at a rate of 31% in India, compared to 8% globally. The survival and quality of life on dialysis have not improved commensurate with technological advances. This increased mortality is partly because of inadequate clearance of uremic toxins and poor volume control. Intensive dialysis in the form of nocturnal hemodialysis, short daily home hemodialysis and few other forms of hemodialysis are more physiological. Apart from providing better control of uremia by increasing duration of dialysis, other complications/associations of CKD are better controlled. One can have the liberty of deciding timing and duration of dialysis depending upon his/her convenience, but as per advice of dialysis team. Few centers in India are providing facility of nocturnal dialysis.
