The restriction of carbohydrate intake increases atrial fibrillation (AF) in individuals with low and moderate carbohydrate intake. The authors of the study published in the March 2019 issue of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC) suggest that low carbohydrate diet as a popular way to lose weight may not be extensively recommended because of the increased risk of incident AF.
