D-chiro-inositol along with myo-inositol can improve metabolic profile in females with polycystic ovary syndrome

A study evaluated the outcomes of D chiro inositol therapy in combination with myo inositol in 20 obese women with polycystic ovary syndrome. The researchers assessed their ability to improve the metabolic profile and thus reduce cardiovascular risk in this patient population. The results showed that the combination improved low density lipoprotein levels 3.50 0.8 mmol L versus 3 1.2 mmol L high density lipoprotein levels 1.1 mmol L 0.3 versus 1.6 mmol L 0.4 and triglycerides 2.3 1.5 mmol L versus 1.75 1.9 mmol L . In addition marked improvements in HOMA IR were also reported. Thus it can be concluded that combination of D chiro inositol with myo inositol appears to be effective for improving the metabolic profile of women with polycystic ovary syndrome and may thus reduce the risk cardiovascular diseases.
