3 positive cases of coronavirus confirmed in India and Vienna-Delhi flight aircrew quarantined

The Air India crew which had flown on the Vienna-Delhi flight on 25th February, had a Delhi resident tested positive as they arrived in India. The crew members are kept in isolation at their homes for 14 days, as reported by PTI officials.

Officials said that the crew members of the Delhi-Vienna flight are in isolation at their homes, and have asked them to inform doctors immediately if they develop any signs or symptoms of the novel coronavirus virus in this period.

On Monday, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan informed that the Delhi resident who has been tested positive for the COVID-19 virus had recently travelled to Italy, whereas the Telangana resident had travelled to Dubai.

Air India officials had informed that the Delhi resident had travelled to Italy by road and then he took the February 25 Vienna-Delhi flight.

Telangana Health Minister E Rajender also confirmed that the Hyderabad resident who had recently returned from Dubai is treated in an isolation ward at the Gandhi Hospital in Telangana’s capital city. The minister said that the 24-year-old software engineer works in Bengaluru, had been to Dubai with colleagues from Hong Kong for work purpose and is suspected to have contracted the virus there.

The patient arrived in Bengaluru from Dubai on February 19th and then he travelled to Hyderabad on a bus. Since then he is taking treatment for fever, but his condition did not improve so he was admitted to the Gandhi government hospital. His family members and those who came in contact with him are being observed. A woman social activist, who returned to India from overseas recently, has also been admitted with suspected signs of the coronavirus. Her test results are awaited.

The Rajasthan government also informed that an Italian tourist has been tested positive for coronavirus in Jaipur.

The deadly COVID-19 virus has almost killed 2,912 people in China and has spread to almost 58 countries.
