Metformin improves survival in older adults with diabetes and moderate CKD

In older adults with type 2 diabetes and moderate to severe chronic kidney disease (eGFR 30–44 mL/min/1.73 m2), starting metformin versus a sulfonylurea considerably reduced relative and absolute risk of mortality, according to a new study published online November 27, 2017 in the Journal of General Internal Medicine.
