The spiritual meaning of the word ‘Artha’

Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha are the four fundamental principles of our very existence which means earning righteously with a desire to fulfil the inner happiness. Righteous earning is called ‘Artha’ and mistakenly it has been linked to materialistic money. In mythology, Artha is synonymous with Lakshmi, Saraswati and Kali, where Lakshmi represents righteously earned materialistic wealth, Saraswati represents wealth of knowledge and Kali represents wealth of wisdom to fight the bad in you and in the society. In any country, it is the wealth of knowledge, which is more important. India was ruled initially by warriors (Kali), later by money (Lakshmi) and in future will be ruled by knowledge (Saraswati). ....read more

WASHINGTON, Aug 31: The need of global collaboration in the pharma sector from research and development to drug manufacturing has never been as great as it is now amid the deadly COVID pandemic, industry leaders and officials from India and the United States said Sunday. Ahead of the 14th edition of the annual BioPharma and Healthcare Summit, that bring stakeholders from India and the United States on one platform, officials and industry leaders said the global health crisis requires a global solution, which can be achieved through global collaboration. India and the United States can play a lead role in this, they said. “The pandemic has two important lessons. Sudden spike in Covid-19 cases in Delhi cannot be ignored: HC

Livemint

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Monday said that the sudden spike of Covid-19 cases cannot be ignored. The court has directed Delhi government to file a status report on the measures taken by the state government to re-strategise the testing plan in Delhi so that maximum number of persons, who are asymptomatic, can undergo a test through RT-PCR to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection. This, even more so, since Unlock 4 has been declared and free movement of people has been permitted in almost all the sectors. The analysis of the second sero-surveillance shall be a part of the said Status Report with a comparison of the results thrown up in the first round of sero- surveillance conducted in Delhi. ICMR shall also place on record the fresh advisory, which is being re-strategised, on an affidavit by the next date of hearing. While drawing up fresh guidelines, Delhi Government shall examine as to whether the necessity of obtaining a prescription from a private doctor for undergoing the RT-PCR should be made mandatory/optional or done away with.

How Can India Combat COVID-19s Collateral Damage?

The Wire

COVID-19 has broken Indian essential health services like never before. Panic is sweeping across homes with patients in advanced stages of chronic ailments – from cancer, diabetes, renal failure, heart disease, tuberculosis to even those with new born babies not administered with basic immunisation shots. The just released National Health Mission data on this collateral damage, that has been splashed across various news publications, talks of a 64% fall in child immunisation, 50% drop in BCG vaccination in April as against the numbers in pre-COVID-19 January. Though they recovered slightly by June, still, they are over 700,000 short from the January numbers.
