Dr Reddy’s isolates data centre services after cyber attack

Dr Reddy’s Laboratories on Thursday said it had “isolated” its data centre services after a cyber attack. The Hyderabad-headquartered drug maker reported the data breach days after it received regulatory approvals to conduct human trials of a Covid-19 vaccine candidate developed by a Russian research institute. “In the wake of a detected cyber-attack, we have isolated all data centre services to take required preventive actions,” Dr Reddy’s told the Bombay Stock Exchange on Thursday. “We are anticipating all services to be up within 24 hours and we do not foresee any major impact on our operations due to this incident,” Mukesh Rathi, Chief Information Officer of the company, said.

The pharmaceutical sector of Pakistan is still unhappy as far as government support is concerned despite the recent hike in prices of around 94 lifesaving drugs, which has sparked criticism of the current leadership. Industry stakeholders are of the view that multiple loopholes exist with regard to certain policies, research and infrastructure upgrade in the sector. “When it comes to planning, investment, growth and development of pharmaceutical industry, the government does not bother to pay any heed due to which it falls short of achieving even the minimum,” they said while talking to a group of journalists on Thursday.

Mumbai doctor threatens, rapes colleague for year, booked

An offence has been registered against a 31-year-old doctor from a hospital in central Mumbai for allegedly raping his colleague repeatedly by threatening to make a video of her viral, police said on Thursday. As per the complaint lodged by the 26-year-old victim on Monday, her colleague touched her inappropriately and repeatedly raped her for nearly a year after threatening to make her video viral on social media, an official said. The abuse took place between November 2019 and October this year and the accused also allegedly issued threats to the victims husband, the official said. An offence under sections 354 (assault), 376 (rape) and other relevant provisions of the IPC has been registered at Byculla police station and further probe is underway, he added.

Durga as doctor, Kartik as sanitation worker: Bengal pandal salutes Covid warriors

Bengal is famous for its theme-based pandals during the Durga Puja festival. Over the years, clubs in Bengal have taken up relevant social issues as themes for pandals. In line with tradition, several puja pandals have taken up the theme of Covid-19 pandemic this year. But there is one pandal in North Dinajpur which even caught the eyes of senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor for portraying Goddess Durga as a doctor. North Dinajpurs Islampur Adarsha Sangha paid a rich tribute to Corona Warriors this year. The club also highlighted the need to conserve the environment. The entry to the pandal began with a forest along with wild animals leading to a hospital. In the hospital, Goddess Durga dawns a doctors uniform, with Lord Kartik as a sanitation worker, Lord Ganesha as a police officer, Goddess Saraswati as a journalist, Goddess Lakshmi as a nurse and coronavirus was shown as Asura.
