The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned of a ‘tipping point’ in the fight to curb COVID-19, as cases continue to surge across Europe and we face the new challenge of a mutating virus.

Dr. Hans Kluge, WHO Regional Director for Europe, said that while new tools are now available against COVID-19, including vaccines, and there is enhanced knowledge about the virus, the world still continues to remain in the grip of this disease. “This moment represents a tipping-point in the course of the pandemic – where science, politics, technology and values must form a united front, in order to push back this persistent and elusive virus”, he said… (UN, January 7, 2021)
