Serum Institute of India has stated that individuals who have a severe allergy to any of the ingredients of the Covishield vaccine should not take it.

Serum Institute has released a fact sheet for the vaccine recipient which states that one should not take the Covishield vaccine if there had been a severe allergic reaction following a previous dose of this vaccine. The vaccine has L-Histidine, L-Histidine hydrochloride monohydrate, Magnesium chloride hexahydrate, Polysorbate 80, Ethanol, Sucrose, Sodium chloride, Disodium edetate dihydrate (EDTA), Water for injection.
