UK Coronavirus Strain Now in At Least 60 Countries, Says WHO

The World Health Organization stated on Wednesday that the UK variant of the coronavirus has been identified in at least 60 countries.

As the COVID-19 death count crossed two million globally, the new variants of coronavirus continue to cause concern. In its weekly update, the WHO also reported that the South African strain has now been detected in 23 countries and territories. It further stated that the number of new deaths rose to 93,000 over the past seven days, while 4.7 million new cases were reported during that period. Mass vaccination campaigns across several countries had brought hope that the pandemic would end soon, with the European Union stating that it aimed to vaccinate 70% of its adult population before August-end… (NDTV - Agence France-Presse, January 20, 2021)
