The weekly COVID-19 cases in India have declined below the one-lakh mark for the first time in seven months.

The country recorded 96,025 new cases in the week from January 18-24. This is the lowest figure since 93,801 infections reported from June 14-21. The deaths due to COVID-19 reported during the week stood at 1,052, down from 1,259 fatalities reported in the previous seven days. The weekly cases currently are down to only 15% of the number recorded at the peak. This week, there was an 8.7% fall in cases compared to the previous seven days.
