Tata in talks with Moderna to launch its COVID-19 vaccine in India

Tata Medical & Diagnostics, a new subsidiary of Tata Sons, is in discussion with Moderna regarding a partnership to launch its COVID-19 vaccine in India.

Tata could collaborate with the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) to conduct clinical trials of the vaccine candidate in India. Foreign vaccine companies are required to conduct a bridging trial in India before they can launch their products in the country. Despite being approved outside India, foreign companies have to carry out phase-3 trials in Indian volunteers. Talks have been initiated between Tata Medical & Diagnostics and Moderna and consolidated plans will only be finalized after government approves private sector participation, stated top officials… (ET Healthworld, January 25, 2021)
