Federal transportation mask mandate issued by US CDC

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued an order that mandates wearing masks in all interstate transportation and at transit hubs, including airplanes, mass transit, taxis as well as trains, starting late Monday.

The mask mandate will be effective from February 1 at 11:59 p.m. EST. It will also cover ride-share vehicles and subways. Not wearing a mask as instructed will amount to violation of the federal law. The mask mandate is not applicable to private cars or commercial trucks that are driven by a single operator. The CDC order comes after President Joe Biden issued an order on January 21 directing agencies to take prompt action to necessitate masks on transportation and at transit hubs… (Reuters, January 30, 2021)
