COVID-19 vaccinations reach 100m mark worldwide

Fifty nine days into the COVID-19 vaccination drives globally, the worldwide drive to inoculate people against this disease attained a significant milestone on Tuesday. The number of COVID vaccine doses administered thus far has crossed 100 million globally.

Close to 101.6 million vaccine doses had been administered across the globe by Tuesday. The number in India has surpassed the 4 million mark. The first doses of a COVID-19 vaccine were reported to be given in Russia, where the vaccination drive was started on December 5. The United Kingdom started administering the jabs three days later. Inoculations started in the United States on December 14 and the country has administered 32.8 million doses thus far, the highest in the world. China has administered 24 million vaccine doses so far. The UK has given 9.8m shots so far, followed by Israel at close to 5m and India… (ET Healthworld – TNN, February 3, 2021)
