Spain approves use of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine for 18-55 year-olds

Spain has approved the use of AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine in individuals aged between 18 and 55 years, adding to the list of countries that have limited the use of this vaccine to younger individuals owing to a lack of data on its use among the elderly.

Italy has also recommendedthe use of AstraZeneca vaccine for adults aged 55 and below. Germany, France, Austria and Norway recommend the vaccine for people below 65 years of age.

Meanwhile, Madrid reported the confirmation of the region’s first case of the Brazil variant.Catalan authorities had confirmed Spain’s second case of the South African variant on Wednesday… (Reuters, February 5, 2021)
