Regulation 7.7 of the Code of Ethics Regulations, 2002 elaborates on the issue of signing professional certificates, reports and other documents.

It states that in some cases, the registered medical practitioners are obligated to provide, or may be called upon or asked to provide certificates, notification, reports and other documents that have been signed by them in their professional capacity for later use in the courts or for administrative purposes.

It further states that if any registered medical practitioner is shown to have signed or given any such certificate, notification, report or document of a similar character under his name and authority which is found to be untrue, misleading or improper, then his name can be deleted from the register.
