Childhood Vaccinations Not Tied to Increase in Allergies or Asthma

A meta-analysis conducted by researchers in Australia has found no association between childhood vaccinations and a rise in allergies and asthma. It was noted that children who had been administered the BCG vaccine had a lesser incidence of eczema compared to other children. However, there appeared to be no difference in any of the allergies or asthma.

The meta-analysis including 42 published research studies did not support the vaccine-allergy hypothesis and the researchers stated in the journal Allergy that there appears to be no evidence to state that childhood vaccination with commonly administered vaccines was tied to a heightened risk of later allergic disease… (Medscape)
