According to a study published in the journal Nature Medicine, the global acceptance of COVID vaccination has increased. However, one in eight respondents, especially younger people, is hesitant about receiving the booster dose. A survey conducted across 23 countries, including India, showed that vaccine acceptance increased from 75.2% in 2021 to 79.1% in 2022. It also showed that the willingness of parents to vaccinate their children also increased, from 67.6% in 2021 to 69.5% in 2022.

He noted that 12.1% of the young vaccinated respondents, aged 12–19 years, are hesitant about booster shots. On the other hand, out of 23,000 respondents, 79.1% were willing to accept vaccination. The finding represented an increase of 5.2% from June 2021. The survey also revealed that ivermectin was consumed at the same frequency as any other approved medications. Even though the WHO and other global agencies do not recommend it for treating or preventing COVID-19. Additionally, more than 4% of the respondents admitted to paying less attention to COVID-19 information and vaccine mandates in 2022.

The lead author of the study stated that the survey aimed to highlight the wide variability among countries and the need for tailored communication strategies in addressing vaccine hesitancy. The 23 countries included in the survey, namely Brazil, Canada, China, Ecuador, France, Germany, Ghana, India, Italy, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, Peru, Poland, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, the UK, and the US, were the hardest hit in this ongoing pandemic.
