In a study published recently in Environmental Research, frequent exposure to face lotion during pregnancy and while breastfeeding has been found to be associated with increased testicular germ cell tumors (TGCT) risk in sons. In the analysis among mothers of TGCT cases and controls, maternal use of face lotion more than one time per week was found to be associated with a significantly increased risk of TGCT. None of the other products examined, including perfume, hairspray, nail polish, hair dye, permanent wave, body lotion, deodorant, sunscreen, appeared to be associated with TGCT risk.
