AKI before pregnancy increases risk of pregnancy complications despite clinical recovery

 An episode of acute kidney injury (AKI) before conception is a risk factor for pregnancy complications including preeclampsia regardless of clinical recovery. The study published in the August 2018 issue of the journal Hypertension also found that the severity of AKI and shorter duration between AKI and pregnancy further increased the risk.
