Pregnant women with heart disease should give birth at no later than 40 weeks gestation, as per recommendation of the 2018 European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Guidelines for the management of cardiovascular diseases during pregnancy published online April 25, 2018 in European Heart Journal. The guidelines also provide recommendations on in vitro fertilisation (IVF), contraception and termination of pregnancy in women with heart disease.
