Atypical presentation of Chikungunya virus infection more common in older adults

A retrospective study reported online September 21 2017 in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society says that in older adults the acute phase of Chikungunya virus CHIKV infection commonly do not have fever joint pain or both the classical presentation of the infection. Typical presentation was present in 8.2 of older adults while atypical presentation was seen in 29.6 of older adults.
