Two men prescribed pregnancy test by Jharkand doctor, later cries foul

Ever heard of pregnancy tests advised for men who complained of stomach pain. A doctor in a government hospital in Jharkhand had prescribed to diagnose two men who came for check-up following stomach problem.

This is aweird turn of events has been reported from a referral hospital at Simaria in Chatr district of Jharkhand. On 1st October, Dr Mukesh, serving at the hospital, prescribed pregnancy tests to two young men who had come for a check-up complaining of stomach pain.

The patients were taken to the hospital by their family members because of severe stomach pain. The doctor also prescribed other tests such as for HIV, HBA, HCV, CBC, HH-2 and ANC the last one was a pregnancy test.

The two patients, who were asked to undergo the pregnancy test were, 22-year-old Gopal Ganjhu and 26-year-old Kameshwar Ganjhu.

When Gopal and Kameshwar visited the pathology laboratory of the hospital, the attending doctor was confused and told the patients that the ANC test is done on women to check pregnancy. The doctor was very surprised that the consulting doctor actually prescribed this test on two men. The two men went back to their village and told their fellow villagers and shortly, the word spread with amusement.

Dr Mukesh denied prescribing ANC test on two men on his part when was asked about the claim been made by Gopal and Kameshwar. He expected foul claiming that a conspiracy to defame him. He said that this was not true and an effort to defame him. Those tests could have been added by overwriting also. Still, this bizarre case has become a subject of great interest in this Jharkhand town.
