How can the burden of obesity be reduced in diabetes patients?

There are limited therapeutic options to treat obesity. Higher doses of metformin and drugs like SGLT-2 inhibitors can reduce weight in patients with diabetes. However, every drug has its limitations. Bariatric surgery is an effective treatment option for both diabetes and obesity; however, not every patient is a candidate for bariatric surgery.
