11 doctors booked in Pune for hosting a birthday party at a resort

On Friday, the Pune rural police have booked 11 doctors along with two resort managers as they had hosted a birthday party at a resort on Friday night in Shirur, Pune.

This incident happened at the Aroha Shrishti Agritourism resort, which is located in Talegaon dhamdhere, Shirur. The manager of the resort had denied any such action by the police. Though, the police had confirmed the name of the resort.

Police inspector Sadashiv Shelar of Shikrapur police station said that they received an anonymous tip about gathering of people inside a resort area late Friday night when the resorts were supposed to be closed. A team was sent and found about a birthday party of one of the doctors. All the doctors have a private practice and were celebrating their fellow doctor’s birthday. The doctor whose birthday was hosting a dinner party. Whether alcohol was served or not is still not confirmed.

According to PI Shelar, no arrests were made regarding the case but will be sent to court with a charge sheet. The case was registered under Sections 188, 269, 270 of Indian Penal Code; Sections 2, 3, and 4 of Epidemic Diseases Act  and Section 11 of Maharashtra COVID-19 Regulations against the 13 people at Shikrapur police station. Rajesh Mali, Police sub-inspector of Shikrapur police station is inspecting the case.
