In the early hours of Wednesday, a mob allegedly raided a hospital in Kondhwa, Pune and assaulted a doctor with an iron rod following a patient was declared dead by the hospital.

The 25-year-old doctor who got injured is a resident of Market Yard. He had lodged the FIR at Kondhwa police station.

The police officials said that the patient was brought in a cardiac ambulance to Prime Hospital in Kondhwa. Doctors checked the patient but found that he was already dead, so they informed the relatives of the patient about it. But a mob of 15 to 20 people, who had arrived to the hospital along with them became angry. At around 12.30 am, they allegedly assaulted a doctor with an iron rod and bombarded stones inside the hospital and also vandalised the security cabin.

A team of Kondhwa police reached the spot for investigation on receiving the information. Police have booked 15-20 individuals in this case under the Indian Penal Code 143, 147, 149, 188, 269, 270 324, 323, 504, 427 sections of the Maharashtra Medicare Service Persons and Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage of Property) Act, National Disaster Management Act, Epidemic Diseases Act.
