Definitive genetic test result will not change with time. A variety of tests are available and they find application in different situations. Data interpretation is difficult especially in polygenic disorders. A mutation may not indicate causality or even association, but maybe a wild type variant. Correlation with phenotype, pathology or a functional assay is necessary.
