The prevalence of hypertension and dyslipidemia are also high. There is a huge variation in prevalence rates of all these metabolic NCDs between different states of India. In general, rates are higher in urban areas, but rural areas are fast catching up. There is an urgent need to increase awareness about NCDs in India and institute preventive measures.
