  • Determining antifungal susceptibility of clinical dermatophytes is important to predict the ability of antifungal agents in eradicating dermatophytes and in managing patients.
  • This study was conducted to determine the etiological prevalence of pathogenic dermatophytes and clinical types of dermatophyte fungal infections.
  • About 93.4% had a past history of dermatophyte infection, emphasizing the rising epidemic of this infection.
  • Trichophyton mentagrophytes was most common isolate followed by T. rubrum.
  • Increase in prevalence of terbinafine clinical resistance was noted.
  • The MIC range of itraconazole was in the upper side of normal limit.
  • Lowest MIC values were reported for griseofulvin followed by sertaconazole, eberconazole and amorolfine.
  • The data generated will facilitate the empiric treatment of patients and help dermatologists in formulating antifungal prescription policies at a regional level.
