Homoeopathy well regulated in India, says World Integrated Medicine Forum

Regulatory levels in the Indian homeopathic sector are much better as compared to other countries, said Dr Robert Van Haselen, director of the World Integrated Medicine Forum (WIMF). Dr Haselen was speaking to reporters following the inauguration of the 2nd WIMF. The forum was inaugurated by Ayush minister Shripad Naik.

It will contemplate on the regulation of homoeopathic medicinal products and look for ways for advancing global collaboration. While homoeopathy is practiced in several counties, regulations in the homoeopathic sector are minimal.

Naik urged the industry and the homoeopathic medical colleges to invest a certain percentage of institutional and industrial revenue into research and collaborate with the Central Council of Homoeopathy for undertaking high-quality research projects.

Key public and private sector stakeholders including representatives of World Health Organization (WHO), and drug regulatory authorities, experts and industrialists from Germany, USA, France, UK, Brazil, Belgium, South Africa, Argentina, Russia, Greece, Austria, Cuba, Qatar, Croatia, Malaysia, Japan, Hong Kong and Sri Lanka, participate in the forum. The forum is also attended by veterinary experts, regulators and drug controllers of various states.

Joint secretary, Ministry of Ayush, Roshan Jaggi, said that the ministry encourages international propagation of Ayush. President, European Committee for Homoeopathy, Dr Helene Renoux of France, talked about the expectations from regulators and industry. (TNN)
