RUDRAPUR: Kashipur police have started search for eight people, including five of family, charged of being involved in vandalism at a hospital and attacking a doctor on duty. The accused ransacked the hospital after a woman died after delivering a baby.

Chanchal Sharma, SHO Kashipur, stated that Asha Chaudhary, a resident of Mewala Farm in Tanda of Rampur, UP, was admitted to MP nursing home on Tuesday midnight. Treatment was started immediately, under the supervision of gynecologist Dr Mantosh Bannerji. She gave birth to a baby boy at 2 am but started bleeding afterwards. The relatives were informed and were advised to take her to a higher center in Moradabad. The woman; however, died on the way.

The deceased’s husband, Dhirendra Chaudhary, came back to the hospital with some people and destroyed hospital property. They attacked hospital security personnel as well as Dr Bannerji, who suffered head injuries.

On the basis of a complaint by the director of the hospital, Dr Santosh Srivastava, a case has been registered against Dhirendra Chaudhary, Monu Chaudhary, Pankaj Chaudhary, Saurav Chaudhary, Anshu Chaudhary, Khajan Singh and two others under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 147 (Punishment for rioting) and 148 (Rioting, armed with deadly weapon) of the Indian Penal Code.
