Study demonstrates long-term durability of weight loss post-RYGB in severely obese patients

A 12 year follow up study published in the September 21 2017 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine has demonstrated the long term durability of weight loss and effective remission and prevention of type 2 diabetes hypertension and dyslipidemia following Roux en Y gastric bypass surgery in severely obese patients. Remission of type 2 diabetes was noted in 51 of patients at the end of the study.
