The National Integrated Medical Association (NIMA) has opposed the decision of Maharashtra Council of Indian Medicine (MCIM) to charge Rs.2000 for renewal of registration of Ayurvedic doctors (BAMS). Also, for digital registration, only a month is given.

The council made it mandatory for every BAMS doctor to pay late fees of Rs.1500 if there is any delay in the payment and an additional fee of Rs 100 will also be charged per day for each late day. The registration can be done with an app called TATPAR. The candidates should submit the documents online and these will be verified physically.  Then only, the doctors will be issued the new certificate with digital information like bar code, etc.

NIMA has put forth that the renewal period should be extended upto 90 days and the late fees should be levied for late registration beyond 30 days. The NIMA national president Dr Ravindra Bothra, said that digitizing the registration process is a welcome step but the registration fees are too high. Also, the Vice president of NIMA, Dr Nana Pojge said that the renewals are pending since 2016 due to some technical issues. Renewals are supposed to be done every 5 years.

The city NIMA organizer Dr Mohan Yende said that there are 90,000 BAMS doctors in the state, for them online renewal of registration is not possible within one months time with the high fees, hence it is totally unjustified process.
