In a shocking incident of medical negligence, the two women caretakers or janitors were found treating patients at the Tumakuru Government Hospital in Karnataka. The women can be seen administering drips to patients. When the patients objected to this, they were allegedly threatened by them.

The most shocking fact was that the so-called treatment was being given in the presence of doctors and nurses. And when the issue was highlighted to the authorities, there was no action taken in this regard. Even the video of the incident was shown to higher officials and yet they had a very cold attitude.

Several local residents have complained about the caretakers who were playing the role of doctors and endangering the lives of the patients. Such incidents are not new in the hospital and has been plaguing the hospital for some time now. Also, there have been many cases across various government hospitals in Indian cities where caregivers have turned doctors and played with the lives of the patients.

On May 12, in a major verdict by Delhi State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, a Delhi hospital was ordered to pay Rs. 20 lakh to a man who lost his pregnant wife and unborn child to medical negligence almost 10 years back.

Ignoring the hospital, the consumer body told the health facility to pay Rs. 20 lakh as fine for the suffering and mental agony faced by the victim and his two children. The victims wife was left unattended by the doctors as she suffered labor pain in the emergency room at the Holy Angels Hospital.
