In Chhattisgarhs Raigarh district, a man has accused a private hospital of removing his mothers kidney without consent on Tuesday. A police official said that district collector Yashwant Kumar had ordered an investigation into the allegations made by Aishwarya Patel against Vananchal Care Hospital.

Patels mother Sumitra (62), a native of Markam Godi village in neighbouring Janjgir-Champa district, was admitted in the hospital which is located in Kharsia area on May 26 for a surgery to remove stones in her left kidney, he said quoting the complaint.

The official said that Patel has named three doctors in his complaint which was filed at Kharsia police station on Monday. The doctors have disproved the allegations and told reporters that the womans kidney was removed as it had developed an infection and a consent of the relatives was taken.

The Raigarh collector has instituted a five-member enquiry committee which includes three senior government doctors. The enquiry team, headed by Kharsia SDM Girish Ramteke, has been asked to submit its report within three days.
