In Digapahandi constituency of Ganjam district, the condition of the roads are very bad and lack of ambulance facility is been hitting people of various villages of Sahadev Tikarpada panchayat.

As a result of this on Saturday, a critically injured woman was forced to be carried on a cot to the nearby healthcare centre and a video of the same is been recently gone viral on social media.

According to sources, Mangi, wife of Pagada Mandal of Ghasiamba village of Sahadev Tikarpada panchayat on the border of Ganjam and Gajapati districts had been to Bagad for some work and over there she fell off a hill and injured herself badly. Her family members called for an ambulance but couldn’t get it and auto-rickshaw drivers too refused to come to the village due to bad road condition.

After trying hard to get transport to carry the injured Mangi to hospital for more than two hours, her family arranged a cot and carried her on it up to Borigaon and from there she was taken ahead in an auto-rickshaw to the Digapahandi Community Health Centre.

Ghasiamba, Daduruma, Kuruma, Gochhapat, Pitamahul and many other villages under Sahadev Tikarpada panchayat are still lacking proper road facility. People of these villages have to trek down on hilly terrains to reach their destinations.

After contacting the Block Development Officer Haladhar Sabar, he pleaded his ignorance about the mishap and said an action plan would be prepared after receiving a written complaint.
