On Thursday, State Secretary of Medical Education Nitish Jha said in a statement that almost 52 doctors employed by the state governments health department in Uttarakhand have been relieved from duties officially.

Out of the 52, most of the doctors had given their resignations to their respective health centers. They had stopped coming for the duty even before the administrations acceptance of their resignation letters.

According to the reports, these doctors had joined private clinics and hospitals and as a result of this health services at government medical centers were suffering.

The states health department has accepted their resignations as new doctors could be appointed in their place. The alleged doctors had given their resignations between 2003 and 2014 and had started private medical practice. During this period, the department had issued a notice to several doctors, who had joined the service temporarily before quitting again.
