Dentists in India pulled more than 500 teeth from a 7-year-old boys mouth, according to the New Indian Express. P Ravindran, 7 year old, was taken to the Saveetha Dental College and Hospital in Chennai, after complaining of a swollen growth on his lower jaw on 11th July. The dentists took an X-ray of Ravindran and found a "bag-like" tumor containing 526 small teeth.

P Senthilnathan, a Professor at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Saveetha Dental College told The New Indian Express, that the tumor-like growth prevented permanent molar teeth growth in the boy in the affected side. An X-Ray and CT scan showed multiple, rudimentary teeth in a bag-like tissue and it almost took five hours to remove all the minute teeth. Luckily, the growth was caught early. The teeth were in different sizes which varied between 0.1 mm to 15mm and looked like pearls in an oyster. Even the smallest piece had a crown, root and an enamel coating similar to a tooth.

Dr. Ramani said, that the cause of the condition is not known, genetics could be one of the reasons. Also, the environment might play an important role. They have taken up a study to see if radiation from mobile phone towers is a risk factor in such conditions.

According to his dentists, all of the boys other teeth are fine however the growth of his molars will be affected which would require molar implants in his teens.
