Rajasthan has topped the free medicine supply scheme, according to NHM

According to NHM Secretary ManojJhalani, Rajasthan has topped the 16-state chart detailing execution of the free medicine scheme, being run under the National Health Mission.

As per to an NHM letter, the DVDMSA (Drugs and Vaccine Distribution Management System) coverage in Rajasthan is 77.26 per cent and quantity of online drug distribution counters is 96.03 per cent. The expired quantity including breakage, wastage and loss, is only 7.43 per cent.

Medical and Health Minister Raghu Sharma has congratulated people associated with the scheme and said that it is a great achievement for the medical and health department of Rajasthan. The scheme is the dream project of the government and is being strengthened daily.

Sharma said that medicine for cancer, heart and kidney ailments were very expensive for the poor and hence, working on thisprogramme, they have ensured that people get free medicines for almost 104 serious diseases.

He further said that during the Congress government, 608 medicines were being distributed free and now 104 medicines has been added to the list taking the total to 712, which is the highest in the country.

Chief Minster Ashok Gehlot was veryfirm for the effective implementation of the scheme which was launched on October 2, 2011 and thus Rajasthan has topped the chart.
