A case on conjoined twins in Rajasthan, baby born with four legs and three hands

An Indian woman has given birth to a girl with four legs and three hands as doctors believe to be the first case of two naturally born triplets being conjoined. Dr. Rohitesh Meena, said that the male child is normal but the female is a case of conjoined twins.

Dr. Meena assisted mom Raju Gurjar, 24, who gave birth in a Tonk, Rajasthan hospital on Friday. The children were born at 2:46 a.m. on Saturday. Gurjar and husband Badhulal, both laborers were shocked to see that their daughter had an extra set of limbs. The first-time mom had not been to any medical investigations during her pregnancy.

Doctors believe that the extra hands and legs, which are attached to the girl’s abdomen can be removed surgically.

The weight of the additional leg on the baby’s chest impacted the infant’s ability to breathe, was seen in a video of the father listening to his child’s heartbeat. Dr. Meena said that she had a minor breathing issue and is put on oxygen support and her vitals are stable now.

Earlier in July, conjoined twin girls were born sharing the same heart in India, and 2-year-old Pakistani twins joined at the head were separated successfully at a London hospital. Also, in August, 3-year-old conjoined twins were separated successfully in Budapest.
