On Tuesday, a doctor who was having more than Rs 1 crore in a PMC bank account committed suicide at her parents residence in Andheri West by overdosing on pills.

According to the police, Nivedita Bijlani was suffering from depression and added that the bank scam might not be the direct cause of her death but they will not rule it out completely and will investigate all the perspectives. A case of accidental death has been recorded by the Versova police.

Bijlani had remarried and was living with her husband in the US. She had come to visit her parents in Andheri with her 18-month-old baby. Police further said that she had attempted suicide in Columbia, US, earlier too. On Tuesday morning, she overdosed on sleeping pills and her father rushed her to the hospital but was announced dead. Her fathers statement was also recorded by the Versova police.
