23 hospitals and clinics fined for dumping biomedical waste in Nagpur

On Wednesday, the nuisance detection squad of Nagpur Municipal Corporation penalized Rs 25,000 on a well-known hospital in Sita buldi for mixing biomedical waste with garbage. Since December 11, 2017, the NDS team has caught 23 hospitals and clinics for dumping biomedical waste for mixing with garbage till now and have recovered Rs 2.19 lakh fine from them.

Highest numbers of cases were carried out under Laxmi Nagar zone where seven clinics and hospitals were caught disposing bio-medical waste in garbage, according to data gathered.

Also, six under Dhantoli zone, five under Mangalwari zone and one each in Dharampeth, Nehru Nagar, Satranjipura, Lakadganj zones, respectively have been penalised. But, there was no case registered under Ashi Nagar and Gandhibagh zones.
