Fire breaks out in Hyderabad's children hospital, claims 3 month old baby's life with four injured

A fire broke out at a private childrens hospital in LB Nagar in the early hours on Monday, claimed a three-month-old baby boy’s life and four others were injured.

LB Nagar Police Station Inspector V Ashok Reddy told PTI that the incident happened in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) of the hospital at 2.55 a.m.One baby died in the fire disaster and four other babies were injured and shifted by their parents and police to different hospitals and were reported to be fine.

He further said that as per initial information, a suspected short circuit caused the fire. The fire was extinguished with the help of fire tenders. Almost 42 children were undergoing treatment at the hospital at the time of the accident and the five babies were admitted in the NICU.

In the meantime, few people including parents and relatives of the injured children held a protest in front of the hospital. A case under IPC section 304A (causing death by negligence) has been registered in link with the incident and aninvestigation is going on.

One more fire had broken out in a hotel in Indore in Madhya Pradesh. The five-storey hotel is situated in a residential area of Indore. A team of fire tenders was rushed to the spot and efforts to douse the blaze were taken. Rescue operations are ongoing as some people are feared trapped inside the building.
