On Tuesday, the health authorities of union territory of Daman raided three clinics in Moti and Nani Daman that were run by quack doctors. They also detained medicines and other materials from the clinics.

Official sources said that the surprise raid was a joint operation by the health department officials along with Daman police under the Clinical Establishment Act, 2010. The inspection was conducted following complaints received by the department against the quacks who had set up shops to fool people in Daman and earn money.

The officials also stated that the doctors were found practicing without renewing their licenses under the rules of the central health department. Though, medicines, intravenous fluids and other materials were grabbed from their clinics and investigations have started to verify the accused persons’ papers.

Director of Daman health department, Dr VK Das said that the surprise investigation was conducted following extensive complaints against these quack doctors operating in Daman. They have collected all the particulars about practicing doctors in Daman before raiding the clinics.

Dr Das also said that they are now scrutinizing the papers of these doctors. If they find any evidences against them to prove they were impersonating as doctors without qualification, they will get them arrested.

Nevertheless, he refused to disclose the names stating that the matter is under investigation which prevents revealing of credentials.
