On Wednesday, the health department has sought a report from the medical superintendent in-charge of the community health centre (CHC) in Kyara, where a pharmacist tied bandage over the jeans of an accident victim who had sustained leg injuries.

According to sources, on Tuesday, Urvaish, a resident of Kyara, was returning home on a bike with his friend when a tractor bumped into their two-wheeler. As he sustained injuries, locals rushed him to the nearby CHC. But, the pharmacist present there tied the bandage over his jeans itself in order to stop bleeding. The sources said that the locals then immediately shifted him to the district hospital where he was given proper treatment. On Tuesday, Dr Saurabh Singh, medical officer in-charge of the CHC, was on duty at Chaubari while three other doctors have gone on sick leave.

Chief medical officer Dr Vineet Shukla said that the pharmacist who had tied the bandage joined the CHC only a month ago. He had sought a report from Singh on the matter and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings. He had also asked him to check whether the three doctors who are on leave are really unwell or not. Until then, medical officer Dr Ashutosh Parashari has been attached to the CHC.
