The district unit of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has protested against the move of the police of registering an FIR against Doctor Nisha Sood of Sirhind for conducting an abortion in Fatehgarh Sahib. Anassignment of the IMA led by Dr Amanpreet Bawa called on the SSP and had submitted a memorandum to withdraw her name from the FIR.

He said whilespeaking to the mediapersons that the SSP had heard their accusation patiently and had promised that justice would be done. On Wednesday, the district police, on the complaint of Sukhwinder Kaur, a resident of Brahman Majra, Sirhind, had booked her husband and four members of family and a private doctor for conducting abortion under Sections 313, 376 and 120B of the IPC.
