A 43-year-old Saki Naka businessman, who underwent a hair transplant 10 months ago, had died after thehair transplant. His family failed to get an answer from a JJ Hospital medical expert team for the cause ofhis death, hence has demanded police to lodge an FIR.

Shrawan Chaudhary died almost 24 hours after he complained of pain in his neck around 2.30am on March 8, after he completed 3,700 hair grafts. Shrawan Chaudhary’s family said police claimed that they would lodge an FIR only after getting the final report from the medical team. Senior inspector Kishore Sawant said that they are awaiting the report before deciding any action. Dr Pallavi Saple, dean of JJ Hospital, said that she will check the records.

The dermatologist told TOI that Chaudhary came to his clinic with a friend, who had undergone a successful transplant, in February. On March 7, they started the procedure around noon. It ended at 2.30am on March 8. He later complained of pain in his neck and was administered a pain-killer. But he was not able to bear the pain. So, at around 4.30am, the dermatologist accompanied him to Global hospital. But he left the hospital when doctors said that they can’t give anesthesia and he needs to be hospitalized. Later, the dermatologist took him to his friend’s hospital at Sion, where he left him after his friend came.

Later, the doctor got a call at 4.30pm on March 8 from the deceased family that he was having a breathing problem and doctors at Hiranandani hospital had told him to get admitted to ICU. The dermatologist said that it is not his fault as he learnt about his death around 7am on March 9.

Chaudhary returned home late evening to his Nahar Amrit Shakti residence, and after taking rest again, complained of restlessness. Trilok Kumar said that his uncle’s face and throat were swelling. He complained of a breathing problem and was rushed to Hiranandani hospital, where he died on March 9, around 6.45am. They have been running around from hospital to police station and have not been given any report on cause of death. Also, no action been taken against the doctor.

The dermatologist’s lawyer, Prashant Pandey, said that the doctor had taken adequate precautions and procedures were followed. The incident is very unfortunate and had occurred several hours after the doctor performed the hair-grafting.
