Notice issued to rural health department for medical negligence by TN Human Rights Commission

The Tamil Nadu Human Rights Commission panel have issued a report on medical negligence by doctors at the Namakkal Government Hospital, which has resulted in the death of a pregnant woman.

The State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has taken suo-motu cognizance of an Express report on medical negligence by doctors and SHRC member Durai Jayachandran has issued notice to the director of Medical and Rural Health Department, to be returnable in four weeks. Also, the judge took suo-motu cognizance of another report alleging that nurses attached to a government hospital in Tiruppathur, performed caesarean on pregnant Fareedha on January 21 after hearing instructions from doctors over the phone. The patient died following the operation and her family members staged a commotion in the hospital.
