Mediterranean diet improves microbiome

A new study published in the BMJ journal Gut suggested that eating Mediterranean diet for just one year altered the microbiome of elderly people in ways that improved brain function and would aid in longevity.

The diet was shown to inhibit the production of inflammatory chemicals that can result in the loss of cognitive function, and prevent the development of chronic diseases such as diabetes, cancer and atherosclerosis… (CNN, February 17, 2020)
